John Rommel

President

My name is John Rommel.  My wife Cathy and I moved to York Manor with our children in 1988. Many of you may have met me without knowing it, as I served as Santa for roughly 30 years, visiting your children and waving from the firetruck. I am co-commissioner of the York Manor Horseshoe League (perhaps you’ve heard our clinks on a Thursday evening) which has gathered neighbors for some 25 years.  I recently retired from being an Engineering Manager at Northrop Grumman and I am ready to help our board thrive.

David worked for Verizon for 30+ years and is presently retired. He was previously an officer of the board atYork Manor Swim Club, and is currently a referee for youth sports and high school sports in Baltimore County.

Kristen Keeney

Kristin Keeney, has lived in the community for 6 years and been on the Board as a member at large since early 2024. Kristin served as acting secretary and has now stepped up to work as vice president. She is an active volunteer in the children’s programs at Church of the Nativity, works with a local animal rescue as a foster for dogs and enjoys spending time in her gardens. Kristin represents our Northeast area, living near the traffic circle on Ridgely Road.

LaTanya has lived in York Manor for only 10 months, but during that time has appreciated the sense of community that is prevalent amongst all of the families within York Manor.  Selecting a community like this was an easy task…I actually “had my eye” on this type of community for years and was elated when I had the opportunity to plant my feet in York Manor.  Taking advantage of the close proximity to the mall, the highway and community events all make my decision even more worth-while.  

I have been practicing social work for more than 25 years, own a psychiatric rehabilitation program as well as a private practice, have presented at multiple conferences on the impact of mental health and trauma, and have served as the lead project coordinator for multiple grants that contribute to community wellness.  I am also a new grandmother and am enjoying EVERY moment of that journey.  I am proud to be a member of the York Manor Improvement Association Board and look forward to watching change in the moment.

Maureen Turner

Interim Secretary, FBOOK Group & Special Projects

Maureen’s parents were the original owners of a home on Pickett Road and she lived there from 1959-1972. When she and her husband were looking for a place to raise their family, York Manor was the place. They’ve lived here since 1999 with Maureen on the York Manor Swim Club Board of Trustees from 2001- 2017, the last 10 years as secretary.

Ann Shaw

Having been a York Manor resident since 1991 and an active board member at York Manor Swim Club for 15+ years, Ann is very much interested in preserving the integrity and amazing community of York Manor.  She knows every resident on her street by name and they all take great pride in maintaining properties to uphold the value for all. Having been in Management for 20+  years in her career, she too is proficient in most computer skills and is a very organized individual.
